Intellivision Lives!

Virtual Play Games announced today the release of one of the most recognizable classic games in video game history by bringing Intellivision Lives! to the Nintendo DS family of hand-held systems.

"Virtual Play Games is very excited to bring Intellivision Lives! to a broader audience at a time when both adults and kids are enjoying casual games even more than ever", said Virginie Grange, Business Development for Virtual Play Games.

"2010 being the 30th anniversary of the Intellivision console, I'm looking forward to seeing how many new fans will discover Intellivision thanks to this DS version. The Nintendo DS is the perfect platform for the classic Intellivision games", said Keith Robinson, Owner of Intellivision Productions.

Nintendo DS and Wii Sales Back on Top

in

According to the independent NPD Group, which tracks video game sales in the United States, the Nintendo DS family of hand-held systems – including the new Nintendo DSi XL – set an all-time record for portable system sales in the month of March, selling more than 700,000 units nationwide. Sales of Nintendo's Wii console reached nearly 560,000 in March as post-holiday inventory began to improve. Nintendo systems accounted for 59 percent of all video game hardware sold in March.

"Demand for Nintendo fun continues unabated," said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. "We're glad so many people are able to get their hands on our systems as we prepare for the May launches of Super Mario Galaxy 2 for Wii and Picross 3D for our Nintendo DS systems."

Nintendo Downloads Prove Anyone Can Be King

in

Have you ever wanted to be a king? Maybe the king of Los Angeles? The new Nintendo DSiWare game Gangstar 2: Kings of L.A. gives you a shot at becoming Southern California royalty. Over on the Virtual Console service, old-school gamers will, like, totally love the chance to become king of the '80s with the gnarly original arcade version of Zaxxon available for download.

Nintendo DS Sets Sales Record

in

With more than 613,000 units sold in February, the Nintendo DS family of systems set a new U.S. record for portable video game sales in the month of February, according to the independent NPD Group. This tally surpasses the previous record of more than 597,000 units set by Nintendo DS in February 2009.

Wii recorded another strong month of sales, despite being hindered by continued product shortages that affected U.S. retail locations during the month. Even so, Nintendo still managed to sell more than 397,000 Wii systems at retail for the month.

With these sales through the end of February, consumers have already purchased 1.9 million Nintendo hardware systems in 2010 alone.

"Here in its sixth year of availability, Nintendo DS continues to expand the appeal of video games," said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. "We expect the public's appetite for these systems will grow even more when we introduce our new extra-large model, the Nintendo DSi XL, on March 28."

Nintendo Downloads Pack a Presidential Punch

In honor of Presidents Day, let's take a moment to reflect on the qualities that make a great leader, plus some exceptional games you can use to nurture them. Problem-solving skills are a must, both in the Oval Office and in the new Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: JUSTICE FOR ALL game for the WiiWare service. A way with words is essential, too, as you'll discover in Scrabble Classic for the Nintendo DSiWare service. Real Soccer 2010 proves the value of teamwork, while Spotto! highlights the importance of facing fearsome threats head-on. And while we're not sure how effective a hedgehog would be as commander-in-chief, the SEGA classic Sonic & Knuckles - now available to Wii owners via the Virtual Console - demonstrates real bipartisan appeal.
