Ubisoft Goes Green

What’s going on with Ubi?  Have they been taken over by people who are hostile to gamers?  I mean, first they announce one of the worst DRM schemes imaginable for the PC, and now they are punishing console gamers all in the name of “going green”.  Check out this PR:

“Today Ubisoft announced an environmental initiative to eliminate paper game manuals, replacing them with an in-game digital manual for all titles on PlayStation 3  system and Xbox 360  video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. The program, the first initiative of its kind in the video game industry, launches worldwide with Shaun White Skateboarding this holiday 2010.

No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle in Stores

Today Ubisoft announced that No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle is now available on North American retail store shelves, exclusively for the Wii system from Nintendo. Created by video game design legend Goichi Suda (Suda 51), No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle is rated "M" for Mature and available at the manufacturer's suggested retail price of $49.99.

Silent Hunter V Pics

Ubisoft has released some new screenshots from Silent Hunter V.  If Ubisoft can keep the bugs under control, I will be playing this game quite a bit!

32 Percent Growth for Assassin’s Creed II

Today Ubisoft announced record first week sales performance for its Assassin's Creed II video game with 1.6 million units sold through worldwide according to internal estimates. This represents 32 percent growth over the first week sales of Assassin's Creed. Launched in November 2007, Assassin's Creed remains the fastest selling new video game intellectual property ever in the U.S.

VIP Beta for R.U.S.E. Starts Soon

Today Ubisoft announced that on November 30, 2009, the R.U.S.E. extended multiplayer VIP beta for PC will be available for installation to selected participants worldwide.

VIP beta content, which will initially include two factions (US and Germany), three maps and a chance for players to experience multiplayer features, will be updated on an ongoing basis throughout the beta time-frame with new content including four additional factions (USSR, France, Italy and UK), more maps and more game modes.

The VIP beta, designed for a limited number of players to get the full R.U.S.E. gameplay experience, will be available for download and installation on Steam. A limited number of codes are being distributed on different partner websites worldwide.

Ubisoft Launches UPlay with Assassin’s Creed II

Ubisoft announced today that players of Assassin's Creed II on the PlayStation3 system and Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft will be able to use the in-game interface to connect directly to the Uplay beta. Uplay will also be available for Assassin's Creed II PC at launch.

Uplay is Ubisoft's online destination where gamers are at the center of a connected gaming universe that has been developed around four primary services: Uplay Win, Uplay Help, Uplay Share and Uplay Shop. The Uplay Beta is launching with Uplay Win.

C.O.P. The Recruit Ships for the DS

Today Ubisoft announced that C.O.P. The Recruit, an open world action-adventure game specifically designed for the Nintendo DS system, has shipped to store shelves. Rated "T" for Teen, C.O.P. The Recruit will be available at the manufacturer's suggested retail price of $29.99.

"C.O.P. The Recruit gives DS fans the opportunity to fight crime and protect New York City in an impressive, fully rendered 3D open world," said Adam Novickas, director of marketing for Ubisoft. "With its awesome graphics and action-packed gameplay, we're confident that gamers will share in our enthusiasm for this one-of-a-kind title."
